Library Board MeetingThe Friday Memorial Library Board of Trustees will meet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday,

Author Michael Hachey Author Michael Hachey, whose books include Means to an End and A Matter of Motive, will be the guest speaker at this year’s Friends of the Library annual meeting on Saturday, May 17th at 10:30 a.m. The event is free and open to the public. Michael Hachey was born in Superior, Wisconsin, and raised near Detroit, Michigan. For the last sixteen years, he has made his home in Hudson, Wisconsin, where he operates an engineering consulting business and sails on the St. Croix River with his wife, Kathie.

Children’s Book WeekMay 11th - 17th Children’s Book Week will be celebrated with drawings for books and other prizes so make sure to stop in and register. Vote for your favorite book from 2007 and favorite author and illustrator, too!
Preschool Dora the Explorer Fiesta StorytimeMay 13th at 10:30 a.m. Don’t wait, register now for the Dora the Exlporer Fiesta at Friday Memorial Library. Help Dora and Boots find the Big Red Chicken’s birthday cake. Kids will make Dora bracelets and binoculars to aid in the search for the cake. A very fun time for fans of Dora Explorer books and movies. This program is for children ages 5 and under with a parent.

Book ClubMay 15th at 6:30 p.m. Like to read? That’s the only requirement to join the Third Thursday Book Club at the library. No membership card. No fee. No lifetime commitment. If interested, please sign up at the library and join us the third Thursday of each month. For May we are reading "The Year of Magical Thinking" by Joan Didion. Discussion will be May 15 and the June selection will be "The Elegant Gathering of White Snows" by Kris Radish.

Mystery Book ClubThe Mystery Book Club will meet on June 5th at 10:00 a.m. The book that will be discussed is The Body of David Hayes by Ridley Pearson.
Catch the Reading Bug Summer Reading Program Catch the Reading Bug @ Your Library is a summer reading club designed to encourage children to read during the summer months. Children may sign up at Friday Memorial Library beginning the week of June 9th. Participants may read whatever interests them, including books in languages other than English. Summer reading list have been prepared with recommended titles to feature and explore the world of insects.
Baby Bugs Summer Reading ClubAs in past years, children pre-school and younger may participate by having someone read to them. This year, in support of the Library’s initiative to foster pre-literacy skills, the Library will have special reading logs and offer age appropriate prizes to children (birth - age 3) who participate in the Baby Bugs Summer Reading Club.
MetamorphosisMetamorphosis is the theme for the teen summer reading club for grades 6 - 12. Register between June 9th and July 30th. Each participant will receive a free reading record and the opportunity to earn some great prizes.
